Sunday (October 1) is Nikkei Heritage Day – important every year, but special this year because it marks the 75th anniversary of Japanese Canadian internment and forcible removal from the West Coast. The day will be marked with a screening of history through the film “Facing Injustice” by Aaron Floresco. Feel free to come and share your experiences about coming to Canada and what it means to be ‘Nikkei’? Discussions will center on what is the future of Japanese living in Manitoba and what have we learned from the past. The event starts at 1 p.m. here at the Centre and is open to anyone, young and old, families and friends, newcomers to Canada, students, and community members. Refreshments will be served.
